Long time back, I had a dream that one day our youth will emerge as a force to reckon with and simultaneously get earnestly involved in the main stream of the community with a sense of confidence, devotion and dedication and on this 17th November during the 10th - Pratibhashali Award Function, I had the thrill to meet the young meritorious students - and felt a vibration which I had never felt before.
The participants were more than 100 in number, 106 to be precise,who had come from far-flung . places like Kolkata, Rajauri, Poonch, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Ludhiana Kota, Ganga nagar etc., - which testifies to the credibility and prestige for the Awards being - given by the GMS over the last 10 years.Gleaming faces, both amongst the youth and their parents, and, in some cases, grand .parents, was a sight to be seen to be believed.While presenting the awards - especially to the 12th class students, I inquired, and was happy to know, that each one of them was pursuing their studies, as per their choice with an eye on the future. A couple ofthem were studying abroad for higher education, which augurs well for the future of the community.
You will all agree with me that the real wealth of a family and the community are their children and it is incumbent upon all of us to ensure that these youngsters are given all possible encouragement and guidance to stand up on their own feet to meet the challenges of the highly competitive environment, which will become tougher in times to come. lt is survival of the fittest and we must ensure that our children excel in every field they enter.
The GMS has, on its own, established an Endowment Trust for Rs. 1 crore, to help the students of weaker section of the society for higher studies. We have also established MOHYAL EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY for imparting various courses in Information Technology which can help youngsters to improve their future career. Besides, MERIT has professionals, who impart "Career Guidance Counseling" to interested students and itwill be desirable forthose students, who wish to take advantage of these facilities, to stay in touch with us.
In addition to this, I am happy to say that our brother, Mohyal Ratna Bk. S K.Chhibber, has established a Public Trust with Rs.3 crores, in the name of his revered father, Bakshi Sansar Chand Chhibber, for the advancement of education and health care facilities. I have been appointed as Chairman of this trust and our Vice-President, Bk. BL. Chhibber, one of the trustees.Once the trust gets functional in the very near future, I am sure it will give due preference to Mohyal children for financial aid for betterment of their careers.
So, my dear youngsters, while I wish all of you the best in life, the effort has to be yours and you can achieve it with your hard work, devotion and dedication, and please rest assured that we will always stand by you, whenever you need our help.
